Final Race Update

Final Race Update:

This morning we got to sleep in, waiting for the motor controller to arrive. It arrived at the hotel at 9:30am, and we spent all morning and early afternoon struggling to get the motor to spin. Finally, at about 2:30 in the afternoon, we managed to convince the motor controller to our spin motor. We rolled the car out of the trailer, and we were met with devastation. Our replacement motor controller fixed one problem but uncovered more problems, our trip to California was over. Our motor was destroyed, and so was our battery management system. These are two custom parts that we spent months researching and waiting to be built and delivered, and then we spent days installing. It will take us months for these parts to be rebuilt and replaced. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped us get to this point, and without the support of the community, we would never have left Okemos. We are incredibly proud of how much we accomplished. What went from a crazy idea nine months again turned into a reality. The Cannonball Sun Team is still committed to completing a Cannonball Run in a solar car, but it will not happen this summer.
