Day 9 Summary: Liberal, KS to Tucumcari, NM

Starting Point: Liberal, KS
Ending Point: Tucumcari, NM
Daily Mileage: 271 miles

Summary:
On Day 9 of the Cannonball Sun, we traveled 210 miles from Liberal, KS, to Tucumcari, NM. We crossed the Kansas border and passed through Oklahoma and Texas before entering New Mexico. 

Technical Issues:

• The roads were straight, and the car performed well. 

Weather:

• Temperatures were high. Outside temperatures rose above 105 degrees Fahrenheit, and the inside of the car rose to 120 degrees. However, the skies were clear, and there was plenty of solar energy to take advantage of. 

Highlights:

• We crossed off three major states. Only three more to go!
• We passed one of the largest cattle ranches in the United States. 

Conclusion:
Day 9 was a great day that left our team feeling confident for the days ahead. The rest of the journey will take us through the desert and greet us with high elevation.
